Asolo Italy National Park, He was born as Andrea di Pietro della Gondola in Padua, then part of the Republic of Venice. His talents were first recognized in his early thirties by Count Gian Giorgio Trissino, an influential humanist and writer. As the leading intellectual in Vicenza, Trissino stimulated the young man to appreciate the arts, sciences and Classical literature and granted him the opportunity to study Antique architecture in Rome.Trissino also gave him the name by which he is now known, Palladio, an allusion to the Greek goddess of wisdom Pallas Athene All the more that quite recently an Iranian delegation (**) consisting of Managing Director Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpur, Deputy Director Farhad Tohidi, spokesman Amin Tarokh, and Directors Guild of Iran Managing Director Alireza Raiisian have also responded to an invitation from their Hollywood counterparts and UCLA Film & Television department to participate to a series of retrospectives and screenings of Iranian films during a festival entitled “Up Close and Personal: Iranian Filmmakers in Their Own Words” from October 9 to 16. In addition, filmmakers Ebrahim Hatamikia, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Reza Mirkarimi, Mojtaba Raei, documentarian Mojtaba Mirtahmasb, and actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya will take part in the discussions with film enthusiasts and students at UCLA. Proving if needed that both film communities can learn from one another and boost interest and exchanges between the Iranian and Hollywood film professionals for the first time in 30 years. 
If Americans have heard the proper noun Asolo, they think of it as an Italian brand of athletic shoes and mountaineering boots. Veteran travelers in northern Italy know better. Asolo, as I discovered with my wife, Rosalie, during a weeklong visit in early July, is a small, heavenly Italian hill town (population, 1,500). It perches above wooded slopes on the edge of the agricultural and industrial plain, or pianura, which extends north and west from Venice and the Adriatic Sea to the foothills of the Dolomites, the towering limestone peaks that form the eastern buttress of the Italian Alps. There, we plotted the next day’s expedition over a plate of local cheeses washed down with glasses of amarone, the robust red wine of the Veneto, the region that arcs around Venice. If it was hot, we sipped flutes of chilled prosecco, a light, sparkling wine produced in nearby Valdobbiadene, before dining on a regional dishes such as baccala, or salted cod. 
Palladio (1508-1580) revolutionized architecture by adapting ancient Greek and Roman architectural motifs to churches, government buildings and country villas of his day. Through his “Four Books of Architecture,” he influenced everyone from Sir Christopher Wren to Thomas Jefferson to itinerant carpenters on the American frontier. LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, with Gilbert, Blanchard and Lindsay, had its world premiere production in August, 2008 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, where it shattered all box office records and sold out for 12 consecutive weeks. Initiated for the stage by Adrianne Lobel (Frog and Toad) and Francesca Zambello, the show is directed by Zambello (Disney’s The Little Mermaid), with music by Academy Award® winner Rachel Portman (Emma), lyrics by Donna di Novelli and a book by Tony Award® winner Rachel Sheinkin (The 25TH Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). Michele Lynch is choreographer and Kevin Stites is musical supervisor.

Additionally, the rich subject matter has opened the doors for many meaningful community partnerships, including our area Habitat for Humanity, and The Seeing Eye, an amazing organization that trains dogs as companions for blind and visually impaired people. Partnerships like these are an important enhancement of the performing arts experience, opening the door for conversations and action as well.”
