Rap artist TI and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested on drug charges in West Hollywood. US cargo plane crashes in Dubai

An American cargo plane attempting to land at Dubai’s airport instead crashed nearby Friday, setting some cars on fire and killing several people, Al Arabiya television reported.
Ambulances were rushing to the area, located near a residential district, the station added. It did not report the model of aircraft or its size. The dead were thought to be the cargo plane’s crew. A large section of the plane was visibly on fire before it crashed.
Al Arabiya said the plane crashed on a highway, but the UAE’s news agency said it was an unpopulated area. In October 2009, a Sudanese Boeing 707 cargo plane crashed in the desert outside Dubai, killing six crew members. UAE regulators have banned the plane’s Sudanese owner from operating in the country.

A gunman who took three hostages at the Discovery Communications headquarters in the US has been shot dead by police and his captives set free.
The gunman, named by US media as James Lee, had metallic canisters strapped to his chest and a handgun when he entered the building near Washington DC.
Police said they had opened fire because they thought he was about to detonate his explosives. Police Chief Thomas Manger told a news conference that there were, other suspected devices in the building that have not been rendered safe yet.

The Air Blue Airbus A330 crashed near Islamabad airport after a flight from Karachi. The plane was on its way from Turkey to Islamabad via Karachi.
The relief teams have rushed to Margalla hills. The airplane lost contact with the control tower of Islamabad airport just before the crash. It is worth mentioning that lack of visibility due to rainy weather might have caused the incident.

Thailand Extends Emergency Rule

The Thai government has extended a state of emergency in 19 provinces including the capital Bangkok, to fears of further violence.
The emergency decree has been annulled in five other provinces, after a period of three months has expired. The law has been imposed during anti-government protests in the mass start of the year in which 90 people were killed.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva told reporters on Monday there would be a progressive lifting of emergency law. Under emergency rule, public gatherings of more than five people are banned and security forces have the right to detain suspects for 30 days without charge.
More than 400 people were arrested.

Pakistan gets new F16

Three F16 aircrafts provided by the US have formally been inducted into Pakistan Air Force (PAF) today in a ceremony at the Shahbaz Airbase.
The three F-16s are part of a batch of 18 aircrafts to be given to the Pakistan Air Force by the end of the year. The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, US Air Chief General Schwartz, US ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson and other senior civil and military officials.
Ambassador Anne Patterson said the US is increasing cooperation with Pakistan in the economic and energy sectors as well. She added that the induction of F-16s will strengthen Pakistans fight against militancy. In the second phase, five F-16 Block 52 C fighter jets would be given to Pakistan over a period of a month and a half. As per the contract, the PAF would receive these aircraft in several batches. The delivery of all 18 fighters would be completed by the end of this year, while the next five would be received in three weeks. The F-16s C/D Block 52 is a high tech fighter aircraft equipped with sophisticated state-of-the-art avionics suite and latest weapons with night precision attack capability.
