Milka Duno: A Latin American success storyCARACAS, Venezuela – Milka Duno is famous in the world of motorsports for being the first Latin American woman to compete on the international circuit. Off the track, she has been featured in advertising campaigns, films and appears on the front cover of her book.

Her official website Milkaduno.com states that she was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently resides in Miami, Florida. But there is much more to this Venezuelan driver who never fails to surprise on and off the track.

In addition to being one of the most successful female sportscar racers in history (she is the first Latin American to qualify for and race in the Indianapolis 500), Milka is also a qualified naval engineer with four master’s degrees – in organizational development, naval architecture, fishing and aquaculture and maritime business – earning the last three degrees simultaneously.

She is also a woman committed to campaigns which promote the value of education for children of all ages. The talented driver has also made her way onto the big screen playing the character Gearbox in the film “Speed Racer,” by the creators of “The Matrix.” In that production she shares the screen with the actresses Susan Sarandon and Christina Ricci.

However, her greatest passion is undoubtedly motorsports. She said to EFE, “It was my destiny to be a driver. When I started racing, I loved how difficult and competitive it was. I like to be the best in everything I do, so I devoted all of my efforts to it.”

Despite the speed and success she has achieved in her life, Duno managed to step on the brakes and make a social commitment to education and children with a charity project called Milka Way and has also released her book, “Go, Milka, Go!”  Her book, according to Amazon, stresses the importance of education and training for the development and progress of young people. Milka is clearly a woman on the go.
