Gilbert Arenas Smiles,Gilbert Arenas, Happy Friday! I just want to say that last night was City Paper’s Best of D.C. 2010 party, at Lux Lounge, and there were drag queens serving waffles there and I didn’t have one and I now regret that.
It’s Judgment Day, Gilbert Arenas!
Today is the day we learn if popular professional basketball stars who bring four guns into the workplace as a “joke” have to face consequences everyone else who brings four guns into the workplace as a “joke” would have to face.
Prosecutors say Arenas should spend three months in jail. The maximum is five years. But probation—Arenas’ preference, appropriate since he is very, very sorry and did not at all attempt to cover anything up—is also an option.
Unfortunately for Agent Zero, ESPN reports in a handy Q&A that “leniency is unlikely”:
He will do time in jail. It will be difficult, if not impossible, for Judge Morin to ignore the previous gun charge and the fact a sentence of probation will be viewed as evidence of special treatment of a celebrity athlete. There seems to be no doubt that an unknown citizen who was a repeat offender, was represented by a public defender and was charged with the same crime would be sentenced to jail. The government’s assertions that Arenas lied about the event and made a clumsy attempt to cover it up are compelling arguments that will produce a jail sentence. Morin enjoys a splendid reputation as a jurist who is capable of independent and insightful decisions.
Superior Court Judge Robert E. Morin could, however, be won over by the 32 (!) letters of support offered up by Arenas’ legal team attesting to the fact that, you know, he’s awesome. Question: Could you get 32 letters of support if you brought four guns into the Verizon Center locker room as a “joke”?
Bush Wipes Hand On Clinton Video, Bush Wipes Hand On Clinton
Bush Wipes Hand On Clinton Video, I was never what you’d call a fan of George W. Bush when he was in office. In fact, I couldn’t stand the illiterate idiot. Still, he’s out of office now, and using his world standing to help others, so surely he’ll redeem himself somewhat.
He did what? Oh. Oh dear. Oh well.
Yes, you saw right. When George W. Bush and Bill Clinton recently visited Haiti to draw attention to the victims of the Haiti earthquake, Bush is caught being incredibly rude and ignorant to one of the people he meets.
Lohan Sues For $100m Over Baby Ad ‘Likeness’

Lindsay Lohan is suing an online share trading company for $100m, claiming one of their adverts features a baby modelled on her.
In a lawsuit filed in Nassau County, New York state, the actress accuses E*Trade of invoking her ‘name, characterization and personality’ without permission. The firm’s advert features a ‘milkaholic’ baby named Lindsay, who is part of a love triangle. It first ran during America’s Super Bowl broadcast on February 7 and can now be found in blogs and on YouTube.
Lohan is demanding the advert stops running as part of her claim. The celebrity news website quoted Lohan’s lawyer as saying it did not matter that her surname was not used. “Do you know the name Oprah? Do you know the name Madonna? Same thing,” Stephanie Ovadia said. The lawsuit claims that using Lohan’s likeness without her consent is a “violation of her right to privacy”.

Brangelina To Sue Split Rumour Mongers

Putting split rumours to rest, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie put on a public display of affection at the Super Bowl American football final and have also issued a legal statement insisting they have no intention of ending their relationship.
Their public denial comes just hours after the Hollywood couple brought their eldest son Maddox, 8, to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Reports that the legal move follows weeks of speculation about their five-year relationship, with reports suggesting they have signed legal papers over their about $320 million fortune and custody of their six children.
Jolie, 34, and Pitt, 46, have previously ignored growing rumours that all is not well in their relationship. Lawyers for the couple said they are not about to split and would consider suing any media outlets that continue publishing the ‘false allegations’.

Top 10 Superbowl commercials

Top 10 Superbowl commercials updates :-
5. Budweiser, “Lost.” How to make the show much less confusing and much more awesome.
4. Snickers, “Betty White.” Any time you have Betty White getting demolished in game of pickup football, then talking smack, AND Abe Vigoda, that’s pure win right there.
3. Bridgestone, “Orca.” I didn’t think anything could one-up the tiger in the hotel room in “The Hangover,” but this does. Bridgestone Killer Whale > Free Willy.
2. CBS, “Dave, Oprah and Jay.” Only Oprah could get Letterman and Leno to watch the Super Bowl on the same sofa. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the late-night hosts was inserted via CGI. (Editor’s note: We thought so too, but it turns out it actually happened.)
1. Coke, “Simpsons.” Mr. Burns loses all his money, but the people of Springfield cheer him up with a Coke and a smile. Noteworthy for: Cameo appearance by Spider-Pig, a TV news broadcaster who isn’t Kent Brockman, and only one regular cast member doing a character voice — Pamela Hayden as Milhouse. That saved some bucks, I’ll reckon

Usa today superbowl ad meter latest news updates :- HERE’S THE SUPERBOWL AD that ran alongside my streaming service as I watched the New Orleans Saints run out a victory in Superbowl XLIV. It’s a product placement for Blacknight Solutions. NFL Fanhouse normally has all the advertisements that ran during the show.
A lot of people in my Twitter stream liked the Simpson’s superbowl commercial. It featured a message set in the current economic doldrums. Monty Burns, America’s favorite sociopathic plutocrat, loses his entire fortune in a hilarious reposession/auction montage. The Doritos commercial was also good. A man fakes his own death for a casket with a TV and a ton of Doritos. Monster.com is a regular during Super Bowls. The 2010 advertisement featured a furry creature playing a fiddle in a variety of places. And Bridgestone wins thumbs-up with a Killer Whale. USA Today ran a live metric of advertisements as they ran. Betty White topped that poll with Doritas coming in second during the live game.
USA TODAY’s Ad Meter tracks the second-by-second responses of a panel of viewers to ads during the Super Bowl and ranks them from best to worst. You can watch the ads yourself, then weigh in with your opinion and rate the ads yourself from one to five stars. Chris Abraham makes good observations about placing advertisements on the Super Bowl. As an American ex-pat, I miss these advertising extravaganzas and enjoy rewinding the ads, if only for a taste of American culture.

Saints Win Super Bowl

Saints Win Super Bowl, The NFL’s New Orleans Saints wrapped up an impressive 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts to clinch their first ever Super Bowl, and thus, causing Bourbon Street to explode in pandemonium. But thousands of miles away here on the left coast in Los Angeles, many USC football fans joined the “Who Dat Nation” in celebration as former Trojan running back Reggie Bush played a role in the team’s victory.
But even with so many members of the Trojan Family celebrating Bush’s contribution toward the Saints’ Super Bowl win, I can’t help but sit back and laugh. Personally, I would consider myself a fan of the Heisman Trophy winner. After growing up a USC football fan in Los Angeles while watching the Trojans real off 34 straight victories with Bush in the backfield, how could I not be? But nevertheless, the fact that so many Trojan fans are running around Southern California proclaiming that “Reggie won the Super Bowl” is a tad bit misleading.
In all honesty, Bush was hardly a factor in the game. There were no breathtaking punt returns. No breakaway touchdown runs. No highlight reel jukes. By all accounts, it was a rather vanilla performance by number twenty-five, and you don’t have to go further than the stat sheet to understand that.

6 Indian Soldiers Dead in Kashmir Avalanche

SRINAGAR: A massive avalanche hit a training center of the Indian army at a famous ski resort town in occupied Kashmir on Monday, killing at least six soldiers and trapping nearly 60 others, police and army officials said.

Rescue operations were under way at Gulmarg, a ski resort about 30 miles (50 kilometers) northwest of Srinagar, the main city in Indian occupied Kashmir, said Col. Vineet Sood, an Indian army spokesman in Srinagar.
Sood said the avalanche hit a training center of the army’s High Altitude Warfare School, or HAWS, around 11 a.m. and swept away soldiers during a training session.
“We have activated all resources to rescue the buried soldiers,” he said.
Farooq Ahmed, a top police officer in Kashmir, said the casualties could rise and joint rescue teams of police, army and tourism officials had reached the spot.
Incessant snowfall and rain were hampering the rescue operations, Sood said.

LAHORE: Pakistan Team Named for T20 Series Against England, Kamran Akmal has paid the price for his fumbles during the Australian tour by being dropped from Pakistan’s Twenty20 squad to take on England in Dubai on February 19-20.
The team will be led by Shoaib Malik, who captained in Shahid Afridi’s absence in Melbourne, for both games.
Afridi, Pakistan’s regular Twenty20 captain, has been banned for two matches after being found guilty of ball-tampering in the fifth ODI against Australia in Perth. Having already sat out the Melbourne game, he will miss the first match against England on February 19.

There are other significant changes to the squad that toured Australia. Abdul Razzaq has replaced Naved-ul-Hasan, and Yasir Arafat has also returned. The fast bowlers Mohammad Talha and Wahab Riaz, with the Pakistan A side to play against the England Lions in Dubai, are also part of the squad, and Mohammad Aamer has been named in the reserves. Aamer picked up a groin injury that ruled him out of the last three ODIs and the Twenty20 in Australia. The selectors have also kept middle-order batsman Aamer Sajjad in the UAE with the senior squad – he is vice-captain of the Pakistan A team – as a reserve along with pacer Rao Iftikhar Anjum.
Pakistan squad: Shoaib Malik (capt), Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir, Khalid Latif, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Yasir Arafat, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Talha, Wahab Riaz, Umar Gul.
